The Adventures of Lady Valencia Dawn Jonesier Part 3: Michie Tavern and the Atlantic Ocean

On Sunday, May 20, the family slept in (I think) and Peachy and I visited a small church in Appomattox, Virginia the historic Appomattox Courthouse site there, and then met the family at Michie Tavern, which is on the same road as Monticello. It was a very fun experience! If you're ever visiting Charlottesville, Virginia, Monticello and Michie Tavern are both incredible experiences!

After lunch at Michie Tavern, we drove to a Virginia Beach naval base, where my cousin is stationed with his three adorable kids. My aunt and uncle, who actually live in the same state as us but were visiting their son, were also there! It was such a blessing to see them all! We hadn't seen my cousin and his kids in a few years! We took a short walk to the beach before dark, and had an exciting time trying to not get attacked by the ghost crabs as it got darker!

After Virginia Beach, we all headed to Williamsurg in anticipation of visiting Colonial Williamsburg the next day. Peachy and I had originally made plans to head to Roanoke on Sunday and Williamsburg on Monday, but changed our plans the same day and were thankful to find a reasonably-priced hotel that had room for us that evening.

Peachy and I exploring the Appomattox historic site -- we had like 20 minutes to explore before we needed to head to Charlottesville to meet the rest of the family at Michie Tavern. It would be lovely to go back there and take our time!

Sweet Pea, me, and Mini-man (I'm not sure what face he's making)

Gubby (14) is growing up way too fast!

Sweet Pea is as beautiful on the inside as on the outside!

Mozzarella (18) in front of The Necessary at Michie Tavern's shop, because sometimes, it's necessary.

A ghost crab. You can imagine how hard it was to spot these guys as it got dark. They were running around like crazy!

Family! The white sign has Pollywog's name on it. She had to stay home because of nursing school, so we took a "version" of her along with us -- a napkin with her name written on it.

 The ocean.
